Merit Badge Computer Programming Class
DECEMBER 21st, 2013 (SATURDAY)
9am to 12noon -->> Be there 5-10mins before so you can plug your computer in and get it up and running.

THINGS TO BRING
1. Computer if you have one. Come without a computer if you do not have one. I will bring a few laptops as well (we'll probably have to share a bit).
2. Power Cord for your computer.
3. USB memory stick (so you can save your work and take it home to be able to print out and put on the workbook).
4. Review parts 3b and 4a, b and c in the workbook before you arrive. If you have answers already then you will have less work to do.
WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?
1. We will finish up the non-programming items in the Workbook. BRING YOUR WORKBOOK!!!
2. We will be learning how to program in Scratch 1.4 or 2.0 environments.
3. We will learn to program in Python (check out the new Python page on this website).
4. If we have time we will try another programming language (this will be a surprise).
THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU COME TO THE CLASS:
1. Load Scratch 1.4. If you don't want to download this to your computer you can run Scratch 2.0 off of the Web.
2. Go to python.org and download and install the Python development environment for you operating system.
If you are using Windows try the MSI installer (32-bit or 64-bit - pick the right one for your computer). If you are using
Linux then you should already know what you are doing. :-) Check here: http://www.python.org/getit/
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL PYTHON 2.6.7 NOT 3.3.3 !!!!!!
